![]() I actually appreciate your photos as great inspiration! I really like the second B&W landscape. I am looking forwards to getting some real use out of it this summer and doing some fun experimenting. I have only taken test shots with it so far and I am pleased with the image quality and sharpness. I picked up the 7Artisan lens used for $100 so I couldn't pass it up. I have put adapters on wide angle lenses before for a circular fisheye effect with a cut off top and bottom of the circle but it isn't like a real fisheye. The 7Artisan 11mm Fisheye is my first real fisheye lens and I have only had it a couple months. I completely agree that a fisheye isn't something that is used often but just like your photos show it is a fun lens to have around. I actually just pulled my 7Artisan 11mm fisheye out of my bag and it is a bit more chunky lens than I remember. Fisheyes are not something one always needs, but they sure add some fun possibilities. Need to ponder it a bit because of the weight. Regarding manual focusing, I assume you use the focus magnification to fine-tune it? Peaking usually doesn't work that well due to the huge DOF. A bit on the heavy side (relatively speaking, 485g vs 180g for the MFT version), but I guess that's what we get for the larger sensor. Thanks Mike! Yes, that looks like a good option. It is just under a pound which is fine for me. My only complaint is it is harder to manually focus really wide angle lenses than I expected. I picked up a used TTArtisan 11mm f/2.8 Lens for Sony FE mount for a great price and I am quite impressed with it. I know that's a little bit of demand for one tho, underwater photogs really seem to like fisheyes, dunno why nobody else has bothered making one. Yeah I figured, just thought I'd throw it out there since the TT artisan that Mike mentioned is the only real fisheye I've seen and it's still bulky, I'd almost rather just shoot the APS-C Samyang on my R if anything. Really looking more for a "regular" fisheye lens for ultrawide 'scapes that can be de-fished if desired, rather than the special circular one. ![]() ![]() Also, the "conversion kit" doesn't seem to be inexpensive. Otherwise, not much left in terms of pixels. I think this would work better with an APS-C or higher res "R" body. I didn't bother looking too much into it since I still carry my GX850 alongside my A7R IV often so I'd rather keep using it on the former (it's one of the lenses I almost always throw in my larger bag actually, along with a tele or two of some kind for the GX850).Įdit: Nodal Ninja makes the conversion kit:Ĭredit goes to /u/burning1rr on Reddit for those. The M4/3 Samyang fisheye can be modified to work as a circular fisheye on a FF body, I think someone even sells a kit to do so and the results look pretty good.
